THE IMPORTANCE OF THE 5E MODEL IN EFFECTIVE KNOWLEDGE ACQUISITION BY STUDENTS

This article scientifically analyzes the significance, essence, stages of the 5E instructional model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) and its impact on students’ knowledge acquisition. It outlines the model’s methodological foundations in constructivism, cognitive psychology, and the learning and development theories of Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky. The author emphasizes that active student participation, experiential and inquiry-based activities, and the discovery of knowledge through self-directed exploration lead to deeper and longer-lasting understanding. The teacher’s role is highlighted not merely as a transmitter of information but as an organizer and facilitator of students’ cognitive activity. Practical examples from science, STEM lessons, and primary school practice are provided to illustrate the application of the 5E model. The article concludes that this approach helps develop key 21st-century competencies such as critical and creative thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.References
