This article analyzes the theme of “Mankurtism” depicted in Chingiz Aitmatov’s novel “The Day Lasts More Than a Hundred Years” and examines its connection with contemporary issues of spiritual assimilation, loss of native language, and national traditions. The study explores profound spiritual challenges of humanity, particularly the phenomenon of mankurtism, emphasizing the importance of self-identification, the native language, and customs as key components of preserving cultural identity.
Based on the analysis of the novel, the article proposes ways to integrate Aitmatov’s work into school and university education systems to foster patriotism and cultural awareness among students.
Through literary and symbolic interpretation, the connection between the mankurt phenomenon and the current threats of language and cultural loss is revealed. Furthermore, the article suggests pedagogical methods for teaching spiritual values through the study of literary works
