THE KAZAKH PRESS OF THE EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY AND THE LEGACY OF ABAI

Abstract

The article examines Kazakh newspapers and magazines of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and the publications of Abai's legacy in them. A review of the original issues of the newspapers "Turkestan ualayatyn gazeti", "Dala ualayatyn gazeti", "Kazak" and the magazine "Aikap" was conducted, the source materials for Abai studies were studied. In addition, newspapers and magazines published in the 1920s and 1930s reflected the role of the journalistic genre in the manifestation of Abai's creativity as a productive channel and in the development of the doctrine of Abai studies on a scientific basis. The first articles devoted to the life and work of Abai were analyzed from a genre, textual, and source-based point of view. The author scientifically analyzed and proved that the origins of Abai studies go back to the first Kazakh press. It was suggested that the Kazakh intelligentsia of the early twentieth century began with the recognition and recognition of the great Abai and reverence for the greatness of the great teacher.
