Abstract

This scientific article presents data on the biological activity of the roots of a plant of the genus Polygonum hydropiper, native to the Katta-Taldyk area of the Kara-Suu district of the Osh region in southern Kyrgyzstan.

Polygonum hydropiper was collected during flowering, dried in the shade, ground using an electric mill, and extracted with a 70% aqueous ethanol solution. Using column chromatography, thin-layer chromatography, and spectroscopic methods, the presence of flavonoids, vitamins, and other biologically active substances in the underground parts of the plant was determined. Based on the data obtained, it was noted that the roots of the Polygonum hydropiper plant possess high biological activity, with preliminary results confirming their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.

The use of this plant extract in folk medicine has been confirmed by experimental studies. It is noted that the obtained results will facilitate further in-depth study of the pharmacological properties of the biologically active substances contained in the plant, as well as enable the development of new medicinal products and the isolation of biologically active substances.
